For now, flows in the Oak are moderate and slightly stained and no icing. So far we are prob looking at some fish from earlier higher water and new fish trickling in on medium-ish flows instead of one bigger batch of fish on a blow out event. Its unknown if flows will stay as low as I saw today on recon, but likely flows will remain real low or optimistically may go up to less low. The river flow has increased with the rain this week. We received 10,000 steelhead and 113,500 salmon from the DEC today as part of the Pen Rearing Project to keep the lake stocked. With the previous high and off color flows in the Oak its been a bit of a challenge for good drifts and swings. One positive for the continued cold weather is trib water temps have not spiked high yet. Geezer and Frost Bite were the best spoons. Fishing pressure light and angler reports thin. I have stayed busy trolling 60-105 ft near bottom with cut bait fly rigs especially on magnum wire divers. Good high water drifters are getting a few brown trout hook ups each outing by covering some water. The lower flows will concentrate the available fish in a few good lies or gravel spots. No obvious staged up concentration of staged up fish like at the Bridges. No icing anywhere and the downstream slow water is wide open.
